Text: I think this is a very good work, perhaps not as advanced as
later Mahler, but nevertheless displaying the same sort of
expansive, elegiac style. Especially remarkable is the violin solo
heralding the close of the work. Like Brahms's piano quartets, this
work is very orchestral in style and surely deserves to be
performed just as much as the symphonies.
