Text: The Op. 28 string quartet is an example of Webern's 12 tone writings. The tone row is symmetrical, and rhythmic canons throughout the piece give it structure and unity. There is basically no hint of tonally in the piece, but the major and minor 3rds that make up the row means that triads appear in the piece but not in any tonal context.
