Text: This piece is one of the greatest piano trios I have ever played. I believe it ranks in greatness with Mendelssohn and Beethoven. I love listening and playing this piece, indulging in the beautiful harmonies of the third movement and the playful qualities of the scherzo. It is a fun piece and I think everyone should be exposed to work of this caliber.

Text: Arensky's style in this trio has been said to be an extension upon that of Tchaikovsky. Others point out that the music was more of a foreshadowing of Rachmaninoff. In any case, the trio has gone on to become one of the most beloved works of its kind, and certainly the gem of Arensky's whole output.

Text: Arensky Dm Trio has a wonderfully corny, very long (10+ minutes in one recorded version) 1st movement; hilarious scherzo; pretty slow movement; and perfunctory finale. In general a good (not great) piece; my trio enjoyed playing it, audience responses were mixed.
