Everyone has their own opinion, but some types of music is liked more than other types. I am writing to tell you what kind of music many people like, what kinds of people like it, how it is aimed at those people, and what that music consists of. We will start with rock music.
Rock music is the most popular among people in their mid-twenties to people in their early fifties. Many other types of music have branched out from rock. Overall it is pretty popular, but less popular among teenagers and senior citizens. In the sixties and seventies, music, rock in particular was a form of rebellion. Parents didn’t like it but their children did. It was new, fast, and loud. Rock is instrumental as well as vocal. Guitars are often used, bass guitars, electric guitars, acoustic guitars, colorful guitars, strange shaped guitars, many different guitars. Electric keyboards and pianos are also popular in rock. There is almost always a drummer and last but definitely not least a singer. In rock there is almost always a lead singer and anywhere from one to even five other singers. Lyrics are often sung fast but in other songs, normally very sad or love songs lyrics are sung slow. Many other types of music originated in this popular form of music and it has produced many true singers and great musicians. Here is a list of some famous rock Artist’s Birthdays.
Alternative music is one of those few that is similar to rock. It is very popular among younger people like teenagers and people in their twenties. I think it appeals to them because it is normally very fast paced and sung by young people. It is very similar to rock because many of the same instruments are used, there are some differences though. Almost all guitars are electric and it is faster than rock. In alternative music they sing about things from bad girlfriends to memories all put together to things that don't make any sense; but it still sounds good enough for tons of young people to like it!
A young, growing form of music, rap or hip hop, is shooting its way through the world of music. This interesting music is most popular among people from kids to people in their twenties. I believe that the reason of its popularity is that young people look upon it as “cool”. The clothes rappers wear, what they sing about and how they are always surrounded by beautiful women. Rap usually consists of a disc jockey, or d.j., with turn tables playing music tracks. The rap artist will speak or chant words, sometimes rhyming, over the music track, normally very quickly. These are usually about gang violence, drug use, wealthiness, people close to the artists, and often times, dedications to people murdered as a result of street violence. Rap music has changed greatly. Rap before the change is referred to as old school, and after the the change just rap. Old school rap was created in the eighties and early nineties. Old school rap wasn’t sung about gangs or killing, it was mostly sung about girls or even things as crazy as shoes. The change was the difference of lyrics. Rap is a very important music with a long way to go.
Country Music, or Western Music, as you can tell from the name developed in the the Mid-West. This music is quite unpopular with most kids and young people that weren’t raised in the country, and even then many young people don’t appreciate it just because it isn’t looked upon as “cool” by most others. Acoustic guitars are often used as well as drums. Sometimes there are pianos and harmonicas. The lyrics sung by country musicians are often about true love, broken hearts, and even about mama’s home cooking. Most people that listen to country music can’t help to dance because of it easy going beat. Organized dances such as square dancing and line dancing are often found at western clubs. This music has lasted a long time but is slowly going out of style with the new generations and the future.
Rhythm and blues, or R&B is a very popular form of music. It was started around the forties and it was a mixture of many different kinds of music. It was made by African-Americans for African-Americans. But around the seventies, many different sounds started to mix onto R&B. A new for of rhythm and blues was created when it began to be blended with more rap beats. This is most popular with teenagers to people of thirty years of age. It is very rhythmic and is often sung about love and happiness, but most often of tragedy. I believe it is popular because of the great voices that sing it and the slow, foot-tapping beat. It also sings about love and lost love and I think many people can relate to it. This music is also played on rap stations because some R&B closely resembles rap and the only thing keeping it different is the speed. This music is popular and will hang around for a long time.
Of course there are many, many more types of music and the world but i have talked about the most popular in the paragraphs above. If you like a different kind of music and believe it is popular I am sorry for not mentioning it.
