
The leopard has an exceptional climbing ability. Taking a firm foothold with its curved claws, it is able to sheer vertically up a tree. Like all cats, the leopard depends more on vision and hearing than on smell. Its hearing is very keen and the eyes is so sensitive that it can move about in pitch darkness. Its beautiful spotted coat, which makes it hardly seen in the natural surroundings. It is very effective as a camouflage among yellow grass or among patterns of light and shade reflected on the ground by the leaves and branches.
