The upright canines of the male are indeed reminiscent of a deer’s antlers. The external appearance of the animal is similar to the pigs. The most striking feature about babirusa is its canines. In the adult boar, the long grotequely shaped upper canines protrude through the top of the upper jaw. They can reach a length of up to 31 cm.

The babirusa comes from the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. The babirusa is one of the rarest animals found in that region. It is usually found in rainforests.
