Anise is an annual that grows to a maximum height of two feet 
which bears basal leaves that are either simple or three lobed. 
The pinnate (feather like) leaves which are found high upon the 
stem are tender. The small fruits are greyish-brown in color, 
clothed in short hairs. Anise is extensively cultivated in Europe, 
India, other small parts of Asia and also in some parts of South 
America.
