Pham Van Dong

Pham Van Dong was born in 1906 in Ho Duc, Vietnam. From 1925, he assisted Ho Chi Minh and worked with him till his death. In 1929, he participated a revolutional student movement, this is why he was imprisoned by the French authorities for 10 years. He was released earlier, in 1936, though. When Ho Chi Minh founded the Viet Minh, he participated as a founder member, too. In 1945, he was a member of the caretaker government and was the Deputy Minister till 1955. In 1954, he took part in the Geneva Conference.

Afterwards, he was the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. When the war ended, he stayed in office as the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
