A. Kosigin

Aleksej Nikolajevich Kosigin was born in 1904 in Russia. As a child of a working-class family he fought as a volunteer in the Red Army (15). From 1927 he became an active politician and was elected to be the member of the party, 12 years later he already had a position in the Central Committee. After finishing the high-school of textile industry in Leningrad, he was the head of a textile factory and a member of the Town Council in Leningrad. First he was only participating in the textile industry, but soon he became a well-known politician and got the position of the deputy president in the Council of Ministers. In 1964 he was elected to be the president of the CM.

He held a big power in his hand and among other he was the one who went to Ha Noi (Democratic Republic of Vietnam) during the Vietnam War. He assured the North Vietnamese politicians that the Soviet Union give every support to avoid the American joining up (1965.04.10.-17.). As a result of his working activities he received several national and international awards.
