G. R. Ford
Gerald Rudolph Ford was born in 4th July, 1913 in Omaha in Nebraska in the name of Leslie King. After his parents had been divorced, he lived with his mother who married again. He picked his stepfather's name, therefore he's Ford. After high school he attended the university in Michigan where he studied economics and politics. Besides, he played in the football team of the university.
After the World War II., he was engaged in politics extensively, but he was only well-known in 1963 when he presided over a republican conference. In this year, L. B. Johnson named him as the leader of the Warren-panel that was to make clear the circumstance of the assassin of Kennedy.
Republican representatives elected him, so he was in a leading role till 1973. In the Nixon government, he was the Vice President. When Nixon was compelled to resign because of the Watergate-scandal in 1974, he became the 38th President. He dismissed nearly all the members of the Nixon administration.
He lost the presidential election in the 1976 against the democrat Jimmy Carter, though. During the campaign, they had many TV debate where many difference stood out. The Americans wanted a democrat administration after many years of republican reign. No matter who it was, just be democrat. After 44 years, he was the politician who had to resign because of the votes.
