WORLD WIDE WEB (WWW) 

One of the most popular application of Internet is certainly the World Wide Web (WWW).  The WWW is based on the hypertext mode, which is one of the most used one.  In addition to visualizing the information that a WWW server offers, it is possible to click on certain words when they are underlined or colored in blue so as to obtain more information on them. 

WWW is an initiative of the CERN (Conseil Européen de Recherche Nucléaire) at Geneva in Switzerland.  The project started in March 1989.  It’s aim was to sort out accounting problems between different system.  There was a need for finding out an easy way of getting information.  The idea was to create a huge web where the knots of information could be spread worldwide.
