Most people become vegetarian because they belive it is wrong to slaughter animals for food and because they are opposed to the cruelty and suffering infliced towards the animals rared for food.

Another reason for becoming a vegetarian is the effect of meat production on the environment, such as the destruction of rainforests for cattle ranching. Others may become vegetarian because of the links between meat production and poverty and famine in developing countries.

The health advantages of becoming vegetarain is another reason why many adults are turning towards that area. Disliking meat, and religious reasons could also be factor.
