Water may it be in
the form of solids(ice) or liquid(water) that falls from a cloud is
called precipitation. Types of precipitation include rain, drizzle,
sleet, snow and hail. Factors that determine the type of
precipitation that falls include conditions within a cloud,
temperature outside it and the height of the cloud.
Rain is precipitation that reaches
the ground in liquid form. Raindrops that fall closely together is
defined as drizzle and if they fall far apart, rain.
Snow is precipitation that is in
the form of ice crystals. It usually occurs when the temperature is
around 0 °C.
Hail is precipitation in the form
of frozen lumps. These frozen lumps are produced by
thunderstorms.
