Ahmed Bahgat His Life First Project His Company His advice Dr. Ahmed Bahgat , one of the most successful business men in Egypt these days, in this short interview he tells his story of success . He started from nothing and he went right up to the top , it all started when he invented a watch that can tell prayer times and that got him a profit of one million Egyptian pounds .I graduated from the faculty of engineering says he department of electronics and communications in the year 1974 and I was assigned to work as a teacher in the university then I joined the army and after which I resumed my work at the university in the department of natural science and mathematics . I traveled to the States to study in the year 1968 and I joined the Georgia Technology Institution until I got my Bs in 1982 , during my stay at the states I had to take up an extra job to pay for my studying expenses for my scholarship only gave me 500 dollars a month which was barely enough for food and drink and living .
I stayed dormant for while when I was making research for new products and selling them to companies for a sum of money , I had now collected a reasonable sum of money and I succeeded in forming a company before getting my Bs with 8 American engineers . The business started to grow and my company was running several projects in America and that made my father fear that I would leave my studying but I was determined to complete them until I got my Bs and then I continued my free work until I succeeded in inventing a watch that could tell the prayer times , I got a profit of one million Egyptian pounds I was 32 back then . My projects continued until I met the president Mr. Mohamed Hosni Mubarak in the year 1984 during my visit to the United States and he said to me : " If people like you don't come to Egypt who is going to develop the country . " And that conversation had a great effect on me and it made me take the decision and go back to Egypt .
His Company
We have a couple of industrial and development companies specialized in land reclamation and others specialized in tourism and many others , the whole sum is 40 companies with 7 thousand workers on basis and about 15 thousand on temporary basis , and it is expected for that number to rise to 35 thousand in the next three years for there are many new massive projects to be opened in the next period . About the largest project and the one that I take the most pride in , it is definitely Dream Land . I think the reason that makes me take so much pride in it is that it is the biggest project of its type in the whole world for it contains a theme park , shopping city , conference center , health town and a center for business men as well as over 15 thousand houses of the finest designs . It is also one of the most electronic cities in the world with investment of over 7 billion Egyptian pounds .
I work from 16 to 18 hours a day , and inspite of that my role is only managing these companies and putting their strategies then I leave the work to the specialists and I never show up at a company unless a problem occurs . I think the most decisive decision I took was leaving teaching in the university and taking up business .His advice
My advice to anyone who wants to succeed is that success doesn't just come suddenly , there has to be a logic start and that leads you to a lot of hard work and success doesn't come without gods will so you have to be honest with yourself before others , never give up and always have faith in what you are doing .
