The Forebrain
The forebrain, also called the cerebrum, can be divided into three functional parts: the thalamus, the limbic system, and the cerebral cortex. In mammals, the cerebral cortex is much enlarged compared with that of fish, amphibians, and reptiles. This trend culminates in the human cerebral cortex, which is thrown into complex folds that increase its area.
