History of Zoroastrianism

Zorastrianism was found by Zarathustra (Zoroaster in Greek, known as Zarthosht in Inida and Persia). Scholars date his life sometime between 1500 BCE and 1000 BCE. He lived in Persia, modern day Iran. He preached a monotheistic religion in a land of polytheistic, consequently he was attacked (persectued) for his teachings. Finally he won the support of a Persian King. Zoroastrianism remained the state religion until, the 7th century CE. In the 650's CE, when Muslim raiders invaded Persia, most of the Zoroastrians fled to Indis, where they are concentrated today. Those few who have remained behind have survived centuries of persecution and now number about 17,000.
