The history of   the "Perugina"

1960’s: New "Perugina" shop opened worldwide.

1961: A new factory was built in San Sisto, Perugia, because the one in Fontivegge had become inadequate and larger sophisticated machinery was needed.

1969: The "Buitoni" and "Perugina" merged to from the IBP (Industrie Buitoni Perugina – IBP joint-stock company).

1970’s: The economy for IBP was increasingly low.

1985: The IBP was sold to Carlo de Benedetti’s "CIR" and the name was changed to "Buitoni SpA". De Benedetti intended to increase the growth and profits of the company, a task certainly difficult to accomplish.

1988: IBP was sold to "Nestlè SpA" for 1600 million Italian liras and became a global corporation.
