Nowadays, beneath our feet, there is a little subterranean world of absorbing interest. Having been used for many years as a neglected rubbish store the place was restored and opened to public use.

It is an interesting experience to take a walk in the subterranean streets where one is surrounded by the work of the two great antagonists: the popes and the Baglioni

On the 18th of June, 1983, the detested fortress was equipped with escalators, and so the palaces of the Baglioni, the old towers, streets and even the rooms housing the Pope’s guns have been incorporated into the daily life and culture of the modern-day Perugia
