Where are you sitting now? Are you in the comfort of your home? Are you enjoying all the technological innovations in your house(computers, t.v., vcr, microwave, refridgerator, car, etc...)? Do you enjoy your wife, girlfriend, kids, siblings, family? If you enjoy all of those, then imagine this: What if you had none of those? You might say, "How is that possible?" It's possible, because it has happened before; a very long time ago. It all started in the early 1930's.

They(The Jews) were just like you. There were normal citizens trying to make a living. Some owned businesses, and the adult's childrens went to schools. Then gradually their rights began to disappear. Jews lost their citizenship in Germany and Poland. They were herded into mass groups and put on trains. Their destination; Concentration camps, or ghettos. The ghetto's were usually heavily surrounded by German guards. Every single possession they had was no longer theirs. They didn't know what hit them until they started to die.

There's a knock on your door. You hesitate to answer due to the heavy banging on the door. You answer, and there's an officer. He hands you a paper and demands you report to the police station to get the paper filled out. You are hesitant to go, but you have no choice. You go to the police station thinking that you have to get this paper filled out and leave.

There are guards heavily armed at the station. You step inside and you approach the desk. You have to answer the questions on the form precisely, such as "what's your religion?" You tell them your religion. "Jewish." Wrong answer.

You are given a yellow patch with the Star of David. They say you are required to wear this at all times. They say if you don't wear it, you will be arrested. So you have no choice but to follow their instructions.

You are placed on a strict curfew and stripped of citizenship. You think this is torture. This is only the beginning of your misery.

Years later, you are kidnapped by German guards and you are placed in ghettos. The ghetto is some of the worst tortures you will experience if you have survived this far. Lack of food, dead bodies, zero degree of sanitation, and trigger happy guards. You risked your life just walking outside. You risked getting robbed for clothing or food everytime you answered the door.

One day you hear a knock at the door of your ghetto house, which you are sharing with countless others. German guards wait a few seconds, then kick down your door. They forcefully move you outside, and shoot anyone resistant. You see many others outside of their ghetto homes and they walk or drive you to a huge freight train, shoving hundreds at a time into a very tight rail car.

You arrive at Auschwitz death camp. Some have died from the long train ride, but you are alive. You are led out of the train and walked down a long, muddy passageway. You are led to one of the many gas chambers in the death camp. You don't know this. The sign says "Sanitation and Shower room." You think you are finally going to get washed up from your horrible condition.

You and thousands of others cramp into a chamber where you wait for the showers to come on. You gag your mouth and nose as you smell a toxic fume coming through the vents in the room. You would have held your hands there, but other people were grabbing you, pleading for their lives.

How come you went from rich to dying in only a few steps? I don't know, and probably noone does. It's just how things work in the world. They say history repeats itself. I sure hope it doesn't in this case.
