My grandfather was also at the Battle of Leyte, he was aboard the USS Cooper, he was not among the survivors and presumed dead, I am trying to do some research for my fathers 65th Birthday for him as he does not know much of his father and has very few memories, he was nine at the time when they recieved the news any information or names you could forward to me so I can gather as much information as I can, would be helpful. I wish you luck as I truely understand that it is not a easy task at which you have taken on.
