We determine the performance with the unit Watt. 1 Watt (w) is necessarily to lift 100 gram in one second one meter. The more Watts a power station can produce, the more current is available. The most common measure specification is kilo- (kW) and megawatt (MW). The American aircraft carrier Enterprise needs 265'000kW to be propelled.

The electrical voltage between two points is called Volt (V). Also the designation kilo(kV) is used here. With a voltage of 50V you risk to die.

Alessandro Volta
Ampere indicates the amperage, i.e. how much electrons flow through a point of a wire with a diameter of 1mm in one second. In order to operate a refrigerator, there are 0.4 - 1.1 ampere (A) necessary.
