| Emergence of coal |
Before 345 to 280 million years was a large part of the earth bog. In this very high plants grew. As they died they were covered with water and it formed for peat. These deposits were covered with sand and mud, so that a very high pressure developed. With this pressure and the volcanic heat the peat transformed into coal.
To propel a coal-fired power station hard coal is better suitable than brown coal. The hard coal possesses a higher heat value (is called it delivers with burning more warmth). The brown coal is not as old as the hard coal and has a higher water content.

| Emergence of the oil |
Oil develops as died plankton and died plants sink on the sea bottom and were covered by sand and tone. By this locking from air the decay process is prevented. The heat and the printing are increased by further deposits and the dead organic materials change itself with help of bacteria into oil.

| Emergence of natural gas |
Natural gas is actually a by-product of oil. Those organic materials, which were not converted under printing and heat into oil, became natural gas.

The natural gas consists of many hydrocarbons, as well as carbon dioxide, nitrogen and hydrogen sulfide. |
