User Account Information
Why should I create an account?
You do NOT need an account to access this site. All of the site's features are avalible to anyone. However, if you create an account, the site will:
- Remember your progress and let you know which sections you have already finished.
- Give you a certificate when you complete all the sections. This certificate may be turned in as part of a classroom assignment.
- Record all your scores on the interactive activites, allowing you to view them at any time.
- Automatically insert your user name and email address in your message board postings and feedback to the authors.
Thus, if you plan to use the site frequently, your best choice is to create an account for yourself!
What information do I need to create an account?
Absolutely nothing. The only required piece of information is the user
name that you choose. You may supply your e-mail address if you'd like us to keep track of it, but you don't have to. Finally, there is a single survey question that you may choose to answer. It is for research purposes only (we'd like to see why peopl
e are visiting the site). In short, we require no personal information of any kind to register.
Why isn't there a password?
Passwords are hard to remember and a hassle in general. All you need to remember is your username. This feature does not make user accounts totally secure, but we sincerely hope that no one will abuse the account system. If you discover that your accou
nt has been used by someone else, please contact us at once. Of course, you can always choose a really strange username and be assured that no one else will try it!
Any restrictions on usernames?
User names must contain only letters and numbers and must be 18 characters or less. This limits your choice to one of 10 billion billion billion possible names :)
So what am I waiting for?
We don't know.
