STARS

Stars What's a "star" ?

Stars are big spheres who glow very hot, they glean. Our sun is a star too. Because the other stars are faraway, we find them very little. There are lots of stars bigger than the sun in our universe.

Are the stars moving ?

All objects on the sky are travelling through the space, also stars and the earth. They are moving very fast. The velocity of our sun is 200 kilometres per second. The earth's velocity around the sun amounts to 30 km per second. We don't notice any of it. You can only notice a velocity, if you see the sky or feel the air. In a plane, you can't notice the velocity and don't see the earth's surface by closed eyes. If you let your eyes closed and, if it's possible, turn around your seat, you couldn't notice, if you fly forward or backward. Also the flying earth don't produce a draugt, because the atmosphere is kept by the gravity and flies along.

How far are the stars away ?

There are many big and small stars. Even, small stars glean brighter than big stars. Stars, those are more faraway, are only visible with a telescope. But, there are a million of stars as faraway as you can't see them with the biggest telescope of this world. The distances are as wide as you can't set them in kilometres (too many 0's). In that case, you have to set them in "light years". Light can go around the earth seven times per second. For the distance from Europe to America, the light needs only 0.002 seconds, from earth to moon (380'000 km), it need more than a second. The sun's light needs eigth minutes to arrive at the earth. In this time, it has covered 150'000'000 km, eight "light minutes". There are stars, 10^12 light years distant. It's impossible to imagine this distances. With your bare eyes, you can see stars as far as 1'500'000 light years. If a star one million years ago finished glean, we notice it first one million years later, because the light needs one million years to reach the earth.

Are stars round or angular ?

Angular stars don't exist. Either, they are round or they are oval. Sometimes, they look angular, it shine, they have jagged peaks. It's like this, because stars glimm.

Why glimms a star ?

The glimmer will be produced by restless air in the atmosphere.
