I'm glad to see your site encourages muliple views on the issue of Tibet.

Another Think Quest site on Tibet has said on the various views of Tibet, "The overseas community of Chinese, however, regardless of their opposition to the Beijing regime, holds the same position as Beijing when it comes to the status of Tibet. The Dalai Lama is considered as harmful to Chinese interests."

Why is this so? Despite that many of us Chinese Americans do not approve of many things done by the Beijing regime, we feel the Dalai Lama has not done any good for the Chinese people, especially for the minority people in China, such as the Tibetans and the Mongolians.

Much of the information on Tibet spread in the West is influenced by the Tibet Independence movement, led by a politically motivated group. Those who are doing research on Tibet need to look at other points of view. Please visit JourneyEast at http://www.invite.to/journeyeast to get many facts. For one, Tibetans are all over China. The existence of millions of Tibetans in China should not be ignored. Their identity is at risk. Our site has been selected by the Franklin Institute of Science as one that encourages scientific thinking. Thank you.
