Grassland -- Animals in the Grassland

It is sometimes mistaken that grasslands are only made up of plants, but actually, there are a very large number of animals living in the grasslands. The animals include insects like butterflies, grasshoppers, moths and beetles and other invertebrates such as caterpillars and snails. Also, there are some reptiles like snakes and lizards. Moreover, there are different types of mammals like rabbits and birds such as Fieldfare, Skylark and Rook. Here are some animals that can be found in grasslands:

  1. Butterflies: they have long coiled tongue for them to nectar in flowers and they close their wings over their backs when they sleep

  2. Centipedes: they like to live in dark and damp places and eat small creatures for food

  3. Chaffinch: this is a kind of bird that eat seeds as food

  4. Earthworms: they eat dead plant materials and soil so that tunnels are made in the soil to allow the entries of air
