The behavioral aspects in the Kosovo WarThe behavioral aspects in the Kosovo War.The Kosovo war endured for more than two months, while it was obvious that NATO's strategy could only work when kept up very long and then the whole Serbian country would be ruined. Why were both leaders (e.g. Slobodan Miloscevic, and the leaders of NATO) so stubborn and what were their motives to go one with the war? Probably the most important factor for both sides was honour. NATO's credibility would be gone if they would have stopped while the conflict was not solved yet, although Miloscevic strongly hoped for that. And besides the credibility NATO also had to show what it was really worth in a millitary combat. When NATO would lose the war it would be a tremendous loss of face, especially for the United States. When Miloscovic would capitulate his power in his country would decrease and someone might take over the power in Serbia. For both sides it was the best that it would end with a treaty (even if it was drawn up by NATO). Then Miloscevic could say he did not lose and NATO could say they forced Miloscevic to sign the pact. | ||
