Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
PTSD has the characteristic that persons reexperience the original event through dreams, vivid memories or flashbacks.A PTSD can occur after one of the following situations:
-military combat
-civilian disaster
-imprisonment in a concentration camp
-rape or assault
-torture
Except the symptoms named above, PTSD has also some other symptoms: sleep difficulties, concentration problems, and an exaggerated startle response.
An important factor in PTSD is to see meaning in what you are doing. For example, for Vietnam soldiers it was very difficult to see the significance of what they were doing.
