Introduction
This chapter is about our daily behavior. Our daily life is in fact our behavior. That is why studying our behavior is so important.

The first section of this chapter is about gestures. Everybody makes gestures, either consciously or unconsciously. Gestures are a form of behavior. You use them to show what you would like to do, what you think of something or how you would like someone else to behave. When you use gestures in another culture you have to watch out; you can use a gesture to make a compliment but instead you can insult that person without knowing it.

The second section of this chapter deals with influences on our behavior. In this paragraph we will give you some examples of influences on our daily behavior. Since there are so many things influencing our daily behavior we had to make a selection. We have chosen some daily situations to make you aware that our behavior is influenced more than we realize.

The third section is about body language. Body language can tell a lot about how you feel and what you are thinking. Body language is also a way of communication. There are estimates saying that 90 percent of all information given to others is communicated through body language.

The fourth section is about using and understanding body language. From the first moment you meet someone, you start to give signals through body language. Sometimes you even give information you would rather keep for yourself. There is often nothing you can do about it. But you are not the only one doing it. If you take a close look at other people you will see that they are giving signals too.
