A member of the large group of "bird-footed" dinosaurs, this one belonged to a family known as the gazelles of prehistoric animal life. They were all small and quite fast, with five-fingered hands and four toes on each foot. They chewed plant food and vegetation with small teeth inside beaks. These were very successful survivors. The families in this group lived more than 100 million years. They were among the first "bird-footed" dinosaurs to appear and lived among types like camptosaurus.

Dryosaurus, which means "oak lizard," was the biggest group. Some were up to 14 feet long. A nearly complete Dryosaurus skeleton was found in Utah. from this scientists have discovered it had long, agile legs, which gave it speed when in a chase. It had little else to defend itself with. It would probably forage among vegetation and plant life, always bobbing its head up to watch for big preying flesh eaters!
