Our Sun

The sun is millions and millions of miles away from Earth. Our sun is actually a gigantic star in the centre of the solar system. Even though, how big our sun is, there are still many other out in the universe which is much bigger than our sun. Our sun is constantly active, it will displays sunspots, solar flares, erupting prominences, and coronal mass ejections. It is a hot spinning ball of gas which is mostly made up of hydrogen. The light from the sun made life possible on Earth. Even though the sun looks small from Earth, we still can't look directly at the sun as the light may blind your eyes. Even though the light travels 300000 kilometres per hour, the light from sun to the Earth still take approximately about eight minutes and twenty seconds to reach Earth. This tells us that the distance between Earth and sun is extremely far.

The Active Sun

The sun is constantly active. It has sunspots and solar flares etc. The most frequent one is solar flares.

Advantages of The Sun

The sun's energy is used fo many purposes. The sun gives life to Earth. The heat and light makes life possible. Without it, Earth would be a dark and cold planet without light and oxygen depleting, many types of life form will start to die. Human race may end too. The sun's solar energy is used when the solar collecters collect the energy to convert them into power to generate electricity. This is a clean and pollution free way to get electricity although it may very expensive.

Disadvantages of the Sun

As more and more CFCS is released into the enviroment, the ozone layer is constantly depleting. The ozone layer is actually a protective layer of shield that blocks out most of the sun's ultraviolet ray. Without the ozone layer, most of the ultraviolet ray will get into Earth. Ultaviolet ray can damage plants, animals and humans. The plant's leaves may turn yellow very quickly over time and drop. We humans may have skin problem and our skin may develop cancer overtime if comes in contact with the ultaviolet ray for too much.
