Milky Way Galaxy

The Milky Way Galaxy, a spiral galaxy we called home has aproximately about 100 billion stars. There are spiral arms and a bright central part. The sun is far from the centre of the galaxy, halfway to the edge of the galaxy. The sun is actually orbiting the centre at a half a million miles per hour. The reason why we could not feel it is because there are very few molecules in space to push against our planet.

Like other spiral galaxies, the Milky Way has a bulge, a disk and a halo. Although all the parts are in the same galaxy, each part contain different types of objects. The halo and the bulge contain the old stars while the disk contains gas, dust and young stars. The sun is five billion years old so the Milky Way Galaxy is more than five billion years old.
