Hyakutake was found by a man in Japan named Yuji Hyakutake. He saw it using a strong binoculars. The comet became visible in late march until lat april, 1996 where the comet is closest to Earth. Comet Hyakutake may not have visited Earth for thousands of years. Astronomers observed the comet and found large amounts of ethane and methane and also x-rays being emitted out of the comet. Finding this uaual molecules tells us that this comet may be a new type of comet. The amount of ethane tells us that this comet experience different type of birth from other comets.
