Halley comet is named after Edmon G.Halley who was the first to suggest comets are natural phenomena of the solar system which orbits around the sun. He suggested that the comet is a regular visitor, returning every 76 years. In 1968, he predicted that the comet will return again and true enough, in 1969, the comet arrived.
The brightest appearance was in 1910. For hundred of years, people wondered what Halley nucleus is like. The picture taken from the Giotto spacecraft gives us the answer. In the picture, the sun is at the left and three jets ae blowing out molecules towards the sun. A crater is also seen in the middle of the comet. The picture also shows that evapoation took place at different locations. The picture taken also tells us that Halley is probably made of ice. Halley will return in 2062.
This is another Halley Comet.
