Welcome to Germany: an exploration of the people and the culture. This site is dedicated to German culture and ways of life. Throughout this site you can learn about many aspects of German culture, customs and daily life such as; their holidays and celebrations, the school system, the states, and the food. There is also a section about what it's like to live in Germany as an exchange student.
A definition of culture
Culture can be defined in many ways. It's not just the music and art of a region. Culture has a broader and more diverse meaning. It's the way a region of people relate to eachother and others. The way they eat, speak, spend free time, work, dress, learn and express emotions. Culture is the patterns of behavior and ways of thinking that people living in a particular social group learn and create.

Each section in this site will feature a selection of music that will automatically play in the background. All of the music is from German composers. If you would like to know the name of selection just scroll to the bottom of the page. This page features Ava Maria from Schubert.
