Welcome to the Camden Radiation Investigation Teacher Resource Page

The Camden Radiation Investigation (1995-1996) was an interdistrict, interdisciplinary, and multicultural project using a local environmental issue as its focus.

As a teacher, you may wonder how this was accomplished.

PLANNING, PLANNING, AND MORE PLANNING!

Planning began in the summer of 1995 and continued until the final presentation in May of 1996. Five teachers met several times to design the curriculum to be used in the study of the Welsbach / General Gas Mantle Building: Gracelynn Johnson (Environmental Science), William Heine (US History II), and Patricia Huston (English 10), all of Camden High, together with Maryann Hauss and Stanley Krantz (Ecology and Nature Study) of Cherry Hill West High School.

The following represents the steps taken in completing the teacher side of the Welsbach / General Gas Mantle building. These can be applied to any long term classroom project .
