The Pawn Being the first and last line of your war party, the pawn plays a vital role in any chess game. These brave foot soldiers can make or break a player's offense and/or defense. When thinking of a pawn, think of a brick wall. If you remove one of the bricks, the whole structure might collapse. Pawns are often the first to move and the first to die. Many sacrifices can be made with pawns also. Your mission, as a pawn, should be to control the center, attack your opponent's major pieces, reach the other side of the board in an end game, and to back each other up in combat. Seek knowledge, young apprentice!
