Sponge Anatomy

One of the features of porifera

Is their complete simplicity

No organs or skeleton

Of primitive- the epitome

Sponge anatomy is, beyond any incredulity, one of the most simplistic systems within the natural world. However, it serves as the basis for many systems within more advanced organisms. In addition, it implements the features of even simpler organisms to create a structure that has been successful for the past 500 million years! Only a few systems have been known to work that long! To best analyze this system, the study will be divided into four parts. One will introduce the outer layer, its parts, and functions. Another section will include information about the interior layer of a sponge. Also, there will be information about the different grades of sponges. The fourth will grant insight towards the implementation and composition of spicules. By reading all of these sections, it is hoped that one will better comprehend the remainder of this website.
