VENUS
CLASSIFIED INFORMATION
How did Venus get its name and is it possible to live on Venus?
How many Earth days does it take Venus to go around the Sun?
Is there any possible way to make Venus a livable planet?
Are there craters on Venus like there are on Earth and the Moon?
Venus is the second planet from the sun in the Solar System. There are many unique things about this planet, one of them being that it is hotter than Mercury, the first planet from the Sun. This is mostly because of its thick atmosphere that traps the close heat waves from the Sun in a "Greenhouse Effect". The heat enters the atmosphere and when it bounces off the planet and tries to escape back out of the atmosphere the atmosphere bounces the heat back down. This way little or no heat escapes the atmosphere of Venus. The atmosphere of Venus is made up of clouds that have sulfuric acid droplets. This fact obviously made scientists think twice about have Venus be a breathable atmosphere.
How did Venus get its name and is it possible to live on Venus?
Venus was named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty of the same name. Although it looks pretty on the outside, don't think that makes the whole planet a lot better than other planets. The inside of Venus is very deadly indeed. For one, the air is totally unbreathable, and if you do try to breathe in it you will surely suffocate and die from the acid and other harmful chemicals that you would breathe in. Another reason why it would not be a good idea to live on Venus is that the Gravity force there is ALOT stronger than Earth. You would be crushed by the powerful Gravity force and you would become a pancake. Now, would you still like to live on the planet Venus? I'd hope not because if you would try to, you would meet your doom instantly.
There are no moons on Venus. There are also no moons on Mercury either, probably because of how close they are to the Sun. Earth has one moon, Mars has two moons and from then on all the other planets have moons, even Pluto.
Venus orbits the Sun once in every 225 Earth days. Venus has a crust, it also has a Mantle, and it also has a molten lava core. There is one thing about Venus which makes it very different from life on Earth. How would you like to live on a planet where the year is shorter than the day? Yes you heard me and it is possible. A year on Venus is 225 Earth days while a day on Venus is 243 Earth days. Pretty strange huh?
Yes, there are craters on Venus, and they are formed in the same way that they are formed on Earth and on the Moon, and that is by a meteorite crashing into the planet's surface or a comet crashing down on the surface. Either way, something just had to come along and smash right into Venus. Also, the craters are just as big on Venus as they are on Earth and the Moon and other planets, there are even some that are bigger!
Well, that is a very hard question to answer, but there have been many theories based around the fact that if we introduced algae to the planet, that it might become livable. This would happen because algae thrive in conditions that are like in Venus. Because of the Greenhouse Effect, it is very hot in the planet itself. Earth was once like that billions of years ago.But because of the algae, it started a long chain of evolution that would eventually lead to human beings being produced. Also, the algae could take the Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere and convert it to Oxygen as plant life does here. This would make the planet breathable by us. Still, there is the problem of the crushing atmoshere that would flatten someone instantly as they entered through the atmosphere. There is also the fact of the very hot temperature on the planet. Maybe if they solved these problems first then it could be very possible to live on Venus. But I think that we should worry about our own planet for the time being because it really is not in that good of a shape.
