3"x 5" index card

2 paper clips

Procedure

Before you bring in your audience, you need to do a little preparation.

1.) On the index card, write "Five Dollars" and fold it two or three times. Use a paper clip to hold it together. Put the other paper clip into your right pocket.

2.) Now, bring in your audience. Take out your bandana with a large flourish and pizazz, and pass it around. Ask for a dollar bill from a member of the audience.

3.) When someone comes up with the money, reach into your pockets and, at the same time, palm the folded card (it should be in your right pocket) so no one can see it, and take out the other paper clip from your left pocket.

4.) Ask the volunteer to fold the bill two or three times, and to fasten it with a paper clip. The bandana should have come back to you now.

5.) The index card should be in your palm. Cover the index card with the bandana, with your palm on the bottom, then the indx card, then the bandana.

6.) Ask your volunteer to place the dollar in the center of the bandana, in your palm. Now, you are going to explain what you are going to do.

7.) Tell your audience that you are going to turn the one into a five.

8.) If you did everything right, the bill should be directly over the index card.

9.) Now, this is a very crucial step.  You have to pick up the bill, the bandana, and the index card all at the same time, and it should all be in a smooth, swift move.

10.) Twist the bandana over, and palm the bill in your right hand. You should now have the bill in your right hand, and the index card in the hankie.

11.) Twist the hankie around the index card and palm the bill so it's not seen. Now hand the hankie to your assistant.

12.) Now, say "I need to get a penny from my pocket to 'fertilize' the bill. As you get the penny, drop off the bill in your pocket. Do some fake "fertilizing action" with your penny.

13.) Now tell the assistant to remove his bill from the hankie. Say "If you have been good, your wish will have been granted." After theyn unwrap the index card, say, in an excited tone, "You got your wish! Isn't that special!"
