The Fruit Card Trick
Materials:
This trick requires two other tricks: The Flip Flop Force, and the Gypsy Switch.
A deck of cards with and extra ace of spaces (identical)
An Orange
A Hankie
A 3" x5" index card with the words "Look in the Orange" written on it
2 paper clips
Preparation
1.) Shuffle through the deck, so that the ace of spades is on top. Set the deck aside.
2.) Take the duplicate ace and tear one corner out of it. Put the corner in a fold of your clothes, or somewhere you can access it easily. Now, roll the rest of the card up into a tube. Now you have to get the tube into an orange
3.) Cut off a small piece of the top of the orange. Don't loose it! Now, push the tube into the middle of the orange, so that you can glue the piece back on to the orange top. Now put the top back on the orange so that you wouldn't be able to tell that you ever cut it. Put the orange aside, like in a fruit bowl, close by.
4.) Tear up the index card into eighths. Clip them together and put them in your pocket. Now, you can bring in your audience.
5.) Bring out the deck of cards. You can shuffle it, but make sure that the ace of spades is on the top! Now, do the Flip Flop Force. After you finish, your volunteer should be holding the secret card (the ace of spades). Note: During part of this step, retrieve the torn piece of the duplicate card from your clothes, and palm it in your left hand.
6.) Now, ask your volunteer to tear the card into fourths. Make sure that he keeps the card and the pieces face down. You should have the other piece in your left palm. Now, take the stack of four pieces, and tear the stack in half. Put the eight pieces in your left hand over the palmed piece. Set the stack of nine on the table.
7.) Bring a paper clip out of your pocket and begin to clip the pieces together, but give your assistant the duplicate quarter as a "receipt". IMPORTANT Note: Make sure that no one can see that card, and it's always face down.
8.) Now, get rid of the other eight pieces. The best way top do this is the Gypsy Switch, but not yet. Put the clipped cards down on the table. Now put both of your hands into your pockets. In one hand, you should pull out the hankie, but in the other hand, pull out the clipped index card, but make sure it's palmed. Now, do the Gypsy Switch with the torn up ace and the torn up index card. Now your assistant should be holding the hankie and the torn up index card. Put the torn up ace away when no one can tell.
9.) Ask your volunteer to keep the hankie closed for now. Now, the fun starts! Tell your assistant to blow on the hankie. Then, tell him that if he really believes, his card will be fully restored. Now tell him to open up the hankie. When you see that the "card" is still torn up, tell him to piece it back together. Hey, it's your last resort, right? When he gets the message, he should take the prepared orange, and peel away the skin. When he finally disassembles the orange, and takes the soggy card out, ask him to piece in the receipt to show that it's "genuine".
10.) Congratulations! You have just completed the hardest trick on the website!
