acetylcholine - a compound released from certain nerve endings which acts in the transmission of nerve impulses to excitable membranes

alert - watchful; quick to perceive and act

bad dreams - unpleasant and disturbing dreams, which, unlike nightmares, do not awaken sleepers

bedding - material providing a bed and/or sleeping area

blood pressure - pressure that is exerted by the blood upon the walls of the blood vessels and arteries

body clock - the internal mechanism of the body that controls biological rhythms

body temperature - the degree of heat that is natural to the body of a living being

chiropractor - a doctor practicing a system of therapy which holds that disease results from a lack of normal nerve function and which employs manipulation and specific adjustment of body structures

circadian rhythm (sleep clock/body clock) - a self-sustained biological rhythm which is normally synchronized to a 24-hour period; cyclic change in a physiological process that repeats at regular intervals.

circulation - the movement of blood through the vessels of the body induced by the pumping action of the heart

cognizance - alert; aware; able to focus attention

coma - a state of deep unconsciousness caused by disease, injury, or poison

consciousness - the or state of being awake and aware

deficiency - a shortage of substances necessary to health; shortage.

delta sleep - fourth stage of NREM sleep, which is the deepest and most restorative period of sleep.

dream - an involuntary series of visual, auditory, or kinesthetic images, emotions and thoughts occurring in the mind during sleep, which take the form of a story, having the feeling of reality but lacking free will.

dream dictionary - a reference book containing words usually alphabetically arranged along with information about their symbolism and meanings as related to dreaming

dream interpretation - through application of this technique, dreams reveal themselves as a psychological structure, full of significance

dream symbols - pictures or imagery said to carry certain meaning or symbolism in dreams
