Famous Documents

These documents were chosen to represent how the written word has had an impact on the world. The only document presented in its entirety is the Gettysburg Address by Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States during the bloodiest era in American history, the Civil War. Different names, dates and places can be inserted into this speech to echo what any country would feel toward the killing of its soldiers to bring about peace, freedom and order.

The documents are a representation of different times and sentiments that occurred when they were written. For instance, many Ministers who signed the Munich Pact knew that war was inevitable, but the mandate was for peace at any cost. Signing away basic human rights of freedom, dignity and cultural heritage can never succeed. Living up to the terms of many of these documents or accords or any name man chooses to call them, with sacrifice and determination shows the world, the written word is alive.
