Step 1

Make sure that your computer is off. Then remove your computer's case (Cover?). If you have any questions, see the images. Find an unused Molex power plug and enough room in the hard drive bay. Also, locate the ribbon cable.
OPTIONAL READING ON RIBBON CABLES:  It should be easy to find the ribbon cable; it is usually plugged into your other hard drive. Most ribbon cables have two hard drive plugs, but some only have one. If the ribbon cable has no free plugs, you will have to replace the old hard drive in order to use the new one. If you are replacing another hard drive anyway, make sure you know which one is to be replaced.
Step 2
Screw the hard drive into the bay with at least three screws. Get them snug, but don't over-force it. Now, plug the ribbon cable and the Molex power plug into the hard drive. If you try to put them in and they don't fit, you're putting them in wrong. If there are two ways to plug in your ribbon cable, pick one and, if it doesn't work, put it in the other way.
Step 3
Replace your computer's case (Cover?) and attach any removed cables.
And you're done with the basic hardware installation. You are due for a reward.
