Roman Empire

Roman civilization had an especially perfect organization and laws, and is a foundation of contemporary west civilization. Romans are famous for their technology. To give a an idea of it is enough to mention that the whole empire was covered with hardened roads that can be used even today. All of them had to fulfill standards, for example the width no less than 2 meters and 20 centimeters. Another example is the system of aqueducts conveying fresh water from the mountains to Rome.

The oldest building on the Palatin Hill is Jupiter Temple on Capitol from VIth century BC. After conquering the left side of Tiber, Rome became the most powerful country in the region. Between 327-272 BC Rome captured all of the Apenin Penninsula, which made it the biggest military power in the ancient world. Beginning from Punic Wars (264-241 BC, 218-201 BC, 149-146 BC) till the end of IInd century AD Romans continued conquering new territories.
