The possessions of Ancient Greece, adopted by Romans, became one of the foundations of contemporary European civilization. Greeks dominated in the ancient world in science and art fields. Also they were first to attemp to describe and explain the surrounding reality in a rational way. Ancient Greece consist of many independent city-countries - 'polis' governed by cadenced authorities elected by citizens with full rights.
