The Wichi tribe has been especially affected. Not only has the floods driven them out of their homes, but storms have saturated their soil with salt, rendering it useless for five years. Over 8000 people have been evacuated from 11 cities. Bible Army of Uruguay is seeking to provide compassionate assistance along with evangelistic witness to those in need. BrazilIn Brazil, El Niņo brought drought that set the stage for raging fires that have destroyed grasslands and forests in 20% of Roraima state. The total Yanomani tribal population has lost its rainforest homeland. Brazilian missionaries are offering food, medicine and other necessities to Yanomanis where they come to get supplies. This produces openness to the gospel among this shy and nomadic people.
