Ground Zero As one of the largest El Niņos in 150 years brews in the Pacific, nations around the world are bracing for the impacts of this weather phenomenon.
While some parts of the world prepare for heavy rains and floods, others face an impending drought, poor crop yields and starvation. Disrupted fish migrations and damage to coral reefs will hinder those dependent on marine ecosystems for their livelihood. Yet others reside in locales where the impacts are less tangible, affecting them indirectly in the produce section of the neighborhood grocery store.
