* Nuclear Physics: Past, Present and
Future
http://tqd.advanced.org/3471/
Understanding the atom was exclusively
a pursuit of scientists for a long time. There was a time when
the workings of these tiny particles were of no consequence to
ordinary people. That time ended over fifty years ago, when
scientists irrefutably demonstrated the power of the atom to
the world, yet there are many who still fail to comprehend the
physics behind this awesome technology.
* CPEP Fusion/Plasmas Web site

Introductory educational
materials on fusion energy and the physics of plasmas.
Created by the Fusion
and Plasmas Group of the Contemporary
Physics Education Project (CPEP). CPEP is a non-profit
organization of teachers, educators and physicists, with
substantial student involvement. CPEP creates educational
materials on contemporary physics topics for use in
introductory physics classes.
* How Does Nuclear Fusion
Occur?
http://www.ee.rochester.edu:8080/~kgreen/pages/fusion4.html
"It can happen that two atoms collide and combine (or
"fuse"), creating a single atom. This process is
called nuclear fusion.When the nuclear fusion process occurs,
great amount of energy is released. By converting this energy
(heat) to electricity, nuclear fusion can be used to run a
power generating plant."
