LamiaLamia is a horrific phantom or ghost who kidnaps children in order to eat them. She has once been the beautiful and happy daughter of King Belus. This all changes when Zeus becomes enamored with her and has an affair with her. Lamia bears many of his children but Zeus’ wife, the jealous Hera, manages to make all of the children die.
Lamia takes her revenge out of madness towards Hera by changing herself into a monster and devouring small babies. Hera punishes Lamia by forbidding her never to sleep. Zeus tries to console Lamia by giving her the power to remove her eyes and put them back at will.
